I started as an intern volunteering for a nonprofit organization. But before this, it was an Art Appreciation class at HCC, it was photography and journalism in high school and being on the yearbook committee. It was interning at 97.9 The Box.

I always knew I was a creative. It called me before I actually began to hone in on my craft. So when I saw the post looking for volunteers for @immefoundation I applied and was chosen out of 200+ people.

From there I just grew. And grew. And still growing.

I thrive off of strategy, seeing the bigger picture and telling stories by way of social media. But I also immerse myself in technical production.

Here I was running the camera switcher at the Arena Theatre.

I’ve noticed a pattern over the years, every time someone turned me down for social media work, it used to make me question myself.
Are my prices too high? Did I say the wrong thing? Why did they choose someone else?

But then, without fail, I’d see the truth unfold, sometimes in weeks, sometimes in days. Things wouldn’t work out for them. Their content would stall. Or they’d circle back after realizing the connection we had was divine alignment, not coincidence.

And so I kept working. I’ve learned that rejection is often God’s redirection. He’s not withholding, He’s sifting. Just like wheat, He separates what’s not meant to go with you so you’re ready for what is.

God says, “You don’t have to beg for what’s already yours.” The right opportunities will meet me in divine timing … and I’ll be ready. 🌾

My path has never been typical, I’ve always stood out, not fit in.

Bold. Curvy. Natural big hair. And for a long time, I didn’t fit the “pretty” mold… but lissssssennnn, I still showed up and showed out.

I stayed the course. I became skilled, dependable, trustworthy, and called. This job I do? It’s sacred. I honor it. I seek God through it. 🙏🏾

I’m walking in purpose, not popularity 🤏🏾 and that’s on favor. I’ll end on this, keep God in the driver’s seat… stay lookin’ blessed and unbothered. 🚗💨

This week stretched me.

I even questioned my position, but was stopped dead in my tracks.

Why, because I know when I show up, I show UP. I over deliver. I over compensate. I recognize my value and what I offer.

Here’s where I messed up, I was expecting me from others. And every, single, time—- I was disappointed.

So how do I bounce back?

So where have I been?

Working. With just over a year of going back to full-time entrepreneurship—— again, I find myself shifting. To some, it may feel like I don’t know which direction I’m going, and I can see that, but I’m happy to navigate these twists and turns early to find my happy medium.

I wouldn’t want to get 20 years in another field and then find out I’m ready to switch, like I did with education.

So here’s to the season of Creative Director vibes (Christian content) alongside visual storytelling (editing) and my newest venture, children’s voice acting + edutainment.

One year ago today I turned in my resignation letter.

I had spent the whole year prior planning for this day. And it was finally here, yet pressing that ‘send’ button to submit my letter before the final hour was nerve-wrecking. 🥺

A plan was in place. Money was saved. The dream seemed so close, yet so far away. 💭

See, I’d left the classroom before. A year later, I had gone back - thankfully - because that’s also the time the world had shut down due to the pandemic. Whew 😥

But I had went back because I was asked to come back, as a favor. I also remembered what a steady bank deposit looked like and it was secure. 🔒

My heart took the beating though - I wasn’t happy. I dreaded Mondays. Everything, except the kids.

Fast forward, year ‘22-23, I put action behind my plan, I wrote down what I wanted, I prayed, I put it on my vision board and TODAY… I’m one year in and not returning to the classroom.

I’ll be sharing all the things I’ve accomplished in this one year time span. And happy to share bookings for NEW clients are officially open.
